There are lots of good reasons to visit ScotHot, Scotland’s food, drink, hospitality and tourism show, this year.

For a start, ScotHot is playing host to the UK Barista Championship which tests competitors on their coffee knowledge, presentation, preparation and all round barista ability. The winner of the competition will represent the UK at the World Barista Championships in Seattle in April 2015.

Plus, ScotHot 2015 will also include the 30th Scottish Culinary Championships, which challenges chefs to create show-stopping food sculptures as well as being judged in a live cook-off on the main stage.

But perhaps best of all, Espresso Adesso, Miko’s Scottish regional office is using ScotHot to showcase the company’s extensive hot beverage offer.

Highlights include a guest appearance from Marco Caira, the Scottish Italian barista champion 2014. Marco, who produced a faultless hazelnut and Nutella infused signature drink at the Awards last year, will put his skills to the test across a range of coffees for visitors to try.

“We are using the show to demonstrate our ability to supply a complete hot beverage offer to Scotland’s hospitality sector, from the coffee making equipment to the coffee, accessories, barista training and after sales service,” explained Jenna Horsnell, marketing manager for Miko.

Visitors can sample from Miko’s best selling range of coffees, including Portioli which benefits from an exclusive roasting process that really brings out the true flavour of the coffee; Grand Milano, a dark, Italian inspired blend, and Puro, the ethical coffee choice which is available in both Fairtrade and Fairtrade Organic options either as beans, ground and in pouch packs across four different blends.

Miko will also introduce Freehand Hand Roasted, the signature blend of sister company Cornish Coffee, which is roasted in Redruth, Cornwall. “We opened our in house roastery at Cornish Coffee last year and it has allowed us to introduce our own hand roasted artisan coffees which have been tailored to suit the UK palate. The first of these coffees is Freehand, which takes drinkers on a journey of discovery spanning Guatemala, Rwanda and South America, celebrated with the help of non-

brand-heavy packaging and wonderfully eccentric artwork.”

In addition to these delicious coffees, Miko will have the latest technology from some of the world’s leading coffee machine manufacturers on show including the Faema Emblema, a traditional espresso machine with numerous user features which help the barista deliver great tasting coffee every time.

“If you are planning on visiting please do drop by our stand, we would be delighted to see you,” said Jenna.
